Blue Moon Milk Cocktail

Blue Moon Milk Cocktail

Sunday’s Full Moon in Capricorn is not actually a Blue Moon. That’s next month. But Moon Milk seemed like the thing to do for this full moon, since the Moon will be at 29 degrees Capricorn and opposing the Sun at 29 degrees Cancer. With both Cancer and the Moon being all about nourishment, and ruling dairy products, I just felt like it was the way to go. And since this is my blog, I can ignore the fact that I’m a month early. But seriously, it gives you time to plan and since the ingredients aren’t really something you’ll find at Kroger, having a plan is good.

What is Moon Milk?

Moon milk is a combination of warm milk, dried butterfly pea flower and Ashwagandha. It’s basically a nightcap used to relax you, alleviate stress and help you sleep. Here, I’ve used half-and-half and added a shot of Kahlua, which seems a bit counterintuitive since Kahlua is a coffee base liquor, but it adds a sweet flavor that pairs beautifuly with half-and-half and gives a little kick to this sleepy concotion. And it didn’t really keep me up. If you’d rather just not, you can replace the Kahlua with some maple syrup (about a Tbsp should do the trick), and add a touch of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg to give it some flavor. That’s more of a traditional Moon Milk.

How do you make Moon Milk?

Making Moon Milk is pretty easy. Just heat up the milk, or in this case half-and-half, stir in the pea flower, add a few drops of Ashwagandha and any other flavorings to taste. That’s it, and your good to go.

Where do you get Blue Butterfly Pea Flower?

I got mine through Amazon. It cost around $13 for a decent amount.

When is the next Blue Moon?

The next Blue Moon is the Full Moon of August 19, 2024. It’s a Seasonal Blue Moon, which is defined as the 3rd Full Moon in a season with four full Moons. This will be the last Blue Moon we get until 2026. That full moon will also be a Supermoon which means the moon will be at its closest point to the earth along its elliptical orbit.
