Christa Carnell is both a professional astrologer and an avid foodie. She created Mystical Mingle as the intersection of her two obsessions, a place where food and the stars combine in a place where intention and goal setting are the name of the game. She believes that you are what you eat and that by eating with planetary intention you can work with the energy of the universe to bring about change.
“I’m a foodie at heart, and with a Moon in Cancer, not only do I love to eat, but I gain a sense of emotional security through the consumption of food. When you combine that with a heavy chart emphasis of Libra/Leo energy my approach to food is to want to make something aesthetically pleasing, tasty and well, usually a bit indulgent,” Carnell says.
She adds, “My approach to food astrology is to look at what rules the dominant flavor, ingredient or spice in a dish. Is it Martian or Venusian? Is it bringing you luck or more structure in your life. By knowing the astrology behind a certain dish, you can focus on the energy you are consuming, and really meditate on what it means to bring more of that energy into your life. It’s also about balance. For example, if you feel like you’ve got too much conflict in your life, then maybe you want to stay away from eating spicy foods, which resonates with the War planet Mars, and focus on eating more sweet fruits, while focusing on bring peace and harmony into your life. That’s just one way you can eat your chart, one bite at a time.”
Carnell became fascinated with astrology at an early age, and dabbled in the practice for friends and family for the better part of three decades. In 2022, she started to get more serious about the craft, when she enrolled in online classes with Kelly Surtees. Then after a health scare in 2023 made her reconsider her life and career choices, she decided to turn professional, while continuing to study with both Kelly and a host of mentors through Kepler College. A mainly traditional astrologer, she uses the whole house system, and traditional rulerships to paint a portrait of her clients worlds, and prognosticates using the timing techniques of Transits and Secondary Progressions.
