Today, in honor of the Sun in Gemini, a sign which Mercury rules, we’re going to dish about Mercury. After all it is the planet of communication.
In mythology, Mercury is the messenger of the gods. He is a fast courier than can run between planets communicating their intentions to the other celestial bodies. As a planet, Mercury embodies this myth by being the fastest moving of the bunch (other than the moon, which is a luminary). So visibly in the sky we can see it moving between the other planets as he makes his way from one to another. This association with the myth of Mercury has led to its connections with communication, travel (short trips), intellect or how you think, commerce (as an energy exchange), vehicles, media, computers and contracts.
You are more than just your Sun sign. Your Sun sign is just one of 7 main traditional “planets” we look to in your chart to describe the energy of how you function. And your Sun Sign is affected by a number of determining factors like its house placement, aspects and planetary strength, which describe how well and where it is able to express itself. But we’re not going to go into that today, other than to say that this explains why some people feel no real affinity for their Sun sign, and related more to maybe their moon sign or ascendant sign. It’s something to bear in mind.
